Grace Ekall, born in Cameroon, brings a rich cultural heritage and a passion for dance to her transformative work. With her mother tongue being French and hailing from the vibrant towns of Kribi and Douala, Grace's journey has taken her from the heart of Africa to becoming a trailblazer in the world of dance and wellness.


Background:

Grace is originally from Cameroon in central Africa, where she founded her dance company and pioneered the Afro-contemporary dance style in Douala. She embarked on exhilarating tours, performing in numerous countries across Africa and captivating audiences with her captivating performances. With her dance company, she toured all 10 provinces of Cameroon and showcased her talent in 12 cities in France.

Arriving in the UK in 2000, Grace was invited by the Arts Council of England to bring her unique contributions to the dance scene. She quickly made her mark, sharing her expertise and captivating audiences with her dynamic performances.


Life-Changing Moments:

Grace's life took an unforeseen turn, shaping her path and igniting her determination to inspire and heal through dance. As a two-time breast cancer survivor, Grace faced immense challenges with unwavering strength and resilience. In 2008, she pioneered dance for breast cancer patients at Frenchay Hospital, championed by ITV News and the BBC, offering a beacon of hope and empowerment.

In 2010, Grace embarked on a remarkable journey, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro to raise funds for Penny Brohn UK, a charity providing support for those living with cancer. Her extraordinary feat symbolised her unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in the lives of others.

Dance as a Commodity for Well-being:

Grace Ekall has transformed her experiences into a powerful force for change. Drawing upon her extensive background as a former choreographer and dance company owner, Grace understands the transformative potential of movement and its impact on mental and physical well-being. She has taught dance in over 100 schools and colleges in and around Bristol, empowering individuals to embrace their creativity, unlock their potential, and experience the healing power of dance.

In addition to her work as a dance practitioner, Grace is an accomplished author and speaker. Her book, yet her book "Moving More Stressing Less" delves into her holistic approach to dance and provides a guide to finding balance, reducing stress, and nourishing the mind, body, and soul.
